Home is where the heart is

We bet you thought as you were packing away your Christmas decorations for another year, “where has the time gone?”

Time seems to gather pace (sadly) as we grow older – some of us further along than others! We are all so busy with whatever is important in our lives right now and so focussed on peering at our smartphones, iPads etc, etc, that perhaps we are losing sight of what really is important…spending quality, face to face time with the people we love and cherish.

Entertaining at home is a brilliant way of involving the whole family and spending time together. Even young children can help out. Get them to write name places (nothing like your name written by a five year old – heartwarming!), and the older ones can help with the cooking.

Dinner parties were an integral part of our family lives growing up. We remember peering over the top of the bannister to catch a glimpse of who was arriving and listening to the chatter and the sound of glasses chinking.

The key to actually making it happen? First, think about who you really haven’t seen as much as you should have done – and really want to spend time with – and (using your smartphone of course!) get a date in the diary. After all, don’t we all love being asked for dinner?

Our resolution this year? We promise to keep posting lots of tips and ideas for stress free entertaining. And for those milestone celebrations this year? Well you only have to ask – we are here to help!

Make ‘making time’ for those special people in your life your number one New Year’s Resolution.

Call Helen or Claire for an informal chat – we’re here to help you entertain.
