‘parties, partying, partied, partied [intransitive] (informal) to enjoy yourself, especially by eating, drinking alcohol and dancing’
There always seems to be a long list of reasons why you shouldn’t host that drinks party/brunch/lunch/dinner but we are here to remind you how joyful and life enhancing it can be to entertain your friends in the comfort of your own home. SO here are some of the reasons we hear the most … and how they are all easily solved.
Never enough of it and everyone is always so busy. Even more reason to get everyone together we say – life is definitely too short not to have a party! Luckily there are some great online calendars you can use to schedule a date that everyone can make without getting into those never ending group emails or texts! Try www.agreeadate.com or www.meetingwizard.com . Give lots of options and before you know it, the date will be fixed and you can focus on the fun bit!
MY HOUSE / GARDEN / DRIVEWAY IS A MESS – HOW CAN I HAVE PEOPLE ROUND?
It helps to remember that everyone has a long list of jobs they never get round to doing and also that people are just really pleased to be invited – they’re your friends, so who’s judging?
There are lots of things you do to hide a multitude of sins…
- Allocate a room as your dumping ground and just wizz round the rooms your guests will be using
- Max out on candles on every available surface
- Throw a white tablecloth over your everyday table
- A couple of vases of fresh flowers – colourful and mood lifting
- Place welcoming lanterns on the doorstep
- Prepare a tray of drinks so you can hand one to your guests as they arrive – instant distraction!
- Get the music on… soon everyone will be chatting away and not taking any notice of the state of your house!
CAN’T COOK / WON’T COOK
You really don’t have to provide trays full of homemade canapés. Nobody expects it. A lovely cheeseboard with baskets of bread and biscuits is perfect. Do a couple if people are going to be milling around in different rooms.
Lunch does tend to take up the whole day, so try having a brunch instead which is easier on the food front too. Serve mimosas, bellinis, lots of fresh coffee and a basket of warm pastries. Your friends will love you for it, especially as they still have the rest of day to get all their jobs done!
I’M ON A BUDGET
You’re providing the venue, so asking people to bring a bottle and a plate of food for the table is absolutely fine. It’s about bringing people together and spending some quality time with your friends. Glasses, ice, music, friends – doesn’t sound expensive does it?
IT’S A MILESTONE BIRTHDAY – TOO MANY DIFFERENT GROUP OF FRIENDS TO BRING TOGETHER, HOW CAN I MAKE IT SPECIAL ENOUGH?
Guests really don’t need much… give them something nice to drink and something to nibble on, throw in some friends to catch up with and some music to listen too .. and there you have it – a party!
Of course, there will be occasions where you want to go that extra mile and for that, we have the answer. Creating parties that are individually tailored to you are our passion. We can turn any space into the perfect venue and we work with only the best partners in the event world which means that we deliver an exceptional service.
We would love to talk to you about your upcoming celebration. Absolutely no obligation – just an opportunity to tell you how we can help make it perfect for you.
